Thames Path Baggage Service

There’s no need to carry a heavy pack during the day. Our Thames Path baggage service takes the weight off your shoulders so that you can enjoy the walk so much more and still look fabulous in the evenings. We can move your bags each day as you walk the Thames Path.

We can move your luggage even if you are not booking accommodation through us. Just email us your itinerary and we will do the rest. Bags can be picked up and dropped off from anywhere close to the Thames. Note that our season runs from Easter Monday to the end of October.

What you should know

Bags are picked up from 9am and are dropped off before 4pm

We send you text messages once the bags are picked up and again when dropped off. That gives you peace of mind whilst walking.

We charge £15 per bag per move. Bags should be no more than 20kg. For parties with bags of 2 or more, the cost per bag is £10. Special prices available for large groups.

We can also pick up and drop off on travel days. For instance, if you were to arrive in Oxford and plan to walk that day, we will meet you to collect your bags and then deliver it to your hotel later that day. Likewise we can deliver your bags to you in person at a station. There is an additional £15 charge for this “meet and greet” service regardless of number of bags.

If you need anything extra dropping off with your bags (batteries, phone charger, spare socks, blister pack), just let us know. We are here to help!

London: We do pick up and drop off in London. However, traffic moves so slowly here that we have to charge more to cover our time and fuel. Additionally, we incur local government fees for driving in London. We therefore charge £25 per bag (£15 per bag for parties with 2 bags or more) plus £10 per trip to London, regardless of numbers of bags as a contribution to ULEZ/congestion charges. For tariff purposes, London starts immediately downstream of Kew and extends all the way to the Thames Barrier. So, drop-offs to Kew are charged at the regular rate; pick-ups are at the London rate.

A deposit of 20% is required on booking with payment in full within 2 weeks of departure. Note that, although we are members of ABTOT, there is no financial protection for this service.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for all your help. It made all the difference not to have to carry all our stuff. I could tell from the first time I contacted you that you would be efficient and so it proved. It was really useful to get a text every time you picked up or delivered the baggage - so reassuring. Thank you for carrying our bag over the last 4 days. You did a great job. The Porters at St Johns College were amused because I don't think they had received a bag in that manner before. But it all worked smoothly and we will have no hesitation in recommending your service.

I would like to recommend 'Walk the Thames' . I think they are relatively new, but they offer a great service. I tried one of your other (Thames Path National Trail) recommendations on your site and found them to be a taxi service basically, charging different costs per section rather than a consistent per day charge and they were also double the cost of Walk the Thames! Richard at Walk the Thames offers a similar service to Sherpavan, including a very cool website which has a good route planner and accommodation recommendations. He has also set up a Facebook page where people walking the Thames path can report any issues on the path and arrange to meet etc. He was flexible, reliable and accommodating as well as reasonable priced.

Just a quick note to thank you for your efficient service in collecting and transferring the bags - all worked seamlessly. Arrived in Oxford pretty tired but very happy! We are hoping to walk some/all of the Oxford - Windsor stretch a bit later in the year so u will hearing from us again.

We walked the Thames Path from Oxford to Windsor in September 2020. We had a lovely holiday, enhanced by “Walk the Thames” who transported our luggage each day to a new hotel. We were notified when the bags were picked up and when they were delivered, leaving us to enjoy the great weather and the lovely scenery lovely. It is an efficient and value for money service. We have still to walk from the source to Oxford; and from Windsor to the end. We will return for these walks and will most certainly use Walk the Thames again

The Thames Path is all about quiet relaxing walking, rather than seeking a gruelling physical challenge, so a reliable baggage service is essential. Walk the Thames were excellent: very efficient and great value – the texts confirming each time the bags were picked up and dropped off were particularly welcome. They helped to make our first post-Lockdown walk very enjoyable
